Often people ask me about electric bikes, as I do not considerate myself an expert, I am however an avid enthusiast. One of the most popular questions I am asked about electric bikes is how exactly I became involved with the electric bike scene. This, like most answers involving a hobby of passion can only be answered with telling the story from square one.
I was, and still am a devoted mountain biker. I started mountain biking in my teenage years and never stopped. After several years I really delved into the sport, riding nearly everyday. I then began racing, nothing series just for fun, but racing non-the-less. At this point other than my schooling, I was completing at a University, mountain biking was what my life revolved around. Until a very unfortunate day, I was on one of regular rides, which made me the opposite of cautious. I was cruising down a hill, looked back at my one of my riding friends to gloat and did not see a log that had fallen across the trail. Obviously at this point I wrecked, hard; in fact I broke my leg.
After breaking my leg, months of rehab ensued. During my stent in rehab I was told it would be well over a year before I could ride a mountain bike again. This was beyond saddening news. I brainstormed for days on how I could ride again sooner, and then it dawned on me to buy an electric bike!
Riding the electric bike helped me rehab quicker and get back to doing what I loved. Not only that, I found a new love. I still mountain bike frequently throughout the week but I also ride my electric bike nearly every day. I ride my electric to the store, to the beach, to work, to friend’s houses, any occasion when I would like to have fun, exercise some, but not necessarily pour the sweat. To me electric bikes are a great way to get around town, and supplement my exercise regimen for mountain biking. Electric bikes nz
